Die in Österreich geborene und seit den späten 1980er-Jahren in Zürich ansässige Galeristin Eva Presenhuber zählt heute zu den einflussreichsten Personen im Feld der zeitgenössischen Kunst. Heute hat die Galerie nebst mehreren Standorten in Zürich auch einen in New York. Das Gespräch, geführt im Juli 2020, versucht, nicht nur die Geschichte der Galerie nachzuzeichnen, sondern auch die spezifischen historischen Bedingtheiten ihrer Entstehung genauer auszuleuchten.
Die Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) bietet in Zusammenarbeit mit IKEA ein neues Weiterbildungsprogramm in Interior Design an. Ist dies die Vollendung der Kreativwirtschaft? Die totale Symbiose aus Kultur, Innovation und unternehmerischem Geist? Nein. Die IKEA-Weiterbildung markiert das genaue Gegenteil, den Anfang vom Ende des Kreativwirtschafts-Arguments.
Money for the arts has to come from somewhere. But what are the implications of getting funding from a huge transnational corporation? Is public money really better than private money? We discussed these and other questions in a small roundtable with Gioia Dal Molin, Marc Hunziker, Chantal Kaufmann and Jérôme Massard. All of them are part of the independent art scene in Switzerland.
Fragments of an Archive consists of 9 videos featuring poetry readings, documentary footage, digital animations, field recordings and photos from the artistic «archives» which were produced during the formation of the exhibitions, A Season in Shell (Zurich, 2014), Mutual Aid (Zurich, 2016) and a performance in the framework of New York post-et préfiguratif (NYC, 2015). The exhibitions and performance looked at transnational trade flows of objects and ideas between Africa, China and Switzerland.
